He’s going to need some padding to fill out that Toronto Argonauts jersey.
Svelte “Billions” star Damian Lewis has been cast as Rob Ford, the controversial former mayor of Toronto, in the upcoming thriller “Run This Town,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film — which reportedly follows a journalist trying to expose a political scandal — is currently filming in Toronto and other details are scarce.
It’s unclear if the flick is based on real or fictional events.
But one thing is certain—Lewis, 47, needs some hefty help to transform into the corpulent, crack-smoking politician who looked more like Chris Farley than Bobby Axelrod.
A recent Kit Magazine interview with the British actor revealed he’s wearing at least a facial prosthetic for the project.
Ford, who passed away from cancer in 2016, was the mayor of Toronto from 2010 to 2014 and made international headlines in 2013 when a cellphone video of him smoking crack reportedly surfaced (it was later made public in 2016). He publicly dealt with substance abuse issues and became a viral sensation when he was filmed dancing to reggae during a 2013 Toronto city council meeting.
