Explosion at electric station sends Puerto Rico into blackout

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — An explosion and fireplace at an electrical substation threw much of northern Puerto Rico into darkness overdue Sunday in a setback for the U.S. territory’s efforts to totally repair power greater than 5 months after Typhoon Maria began the longest blackout in U.S. history. The island’s Electrical Energy Authority stated several municipalities were with out power, including portions of the capital, San Juan, but they have been optimistic it would be restored inside a day as they worked to fix a substation that controls voltage….
